How to Beat All 5 Bosses
Every third wave, the swarm stops pretending and sends a name. Five bosses stand between you and a full clear — waves three, six, nine, twelve, and fifteen — and each one is a test of something different. Here's what each boss actually checks for, and how to pass.
One universal rule before the roster: walk into every boss wave healthy. The two swarm waves before a boss are where fights are really lost — defenders who limp into wave three at a quarter health didn't lose to Kra'thor, they lost to the ants. Hoard your mushrooms for the names (our beginner's guide covers the economy of it).
Wave 3 — KRA'THOR, the Burrow King
The test: awareness. Kra'thor fights dirty — he burrows underground and ambushes from beneath you. The moment he disappears, the worst thing you can do is stand still and swing at air. Keep moving in a loose circle; when he erupts, the ambush hits where you were, not where you are. Between burrows he's a straightforward brawler: burst him down, block his lunges, and don't let the ambush anxiety bait you into panic-dodging into a corner. As the first boss, he's also your rhythm teacher — learn to fight while moving here and every later boss gets easier.
Wave 6 — VEXARA, the Sky Queen
The test: timing. Vexara owns the air and dive-bombs from it, which makes her the boss that punishes button-mashing hardest. Her dives are fast but committed — she picks her angle and follows it, which means a well-timed dodge perpendicular to her approach beats her cleanly. The mistake is dodging backward along her flight path; she's faster than you in a straight line. While she's airborne, reposition and breathe; when she commits, dodge across, then punish the recovery. Ranged pressure between dives shortens the fight considerably — Zenka players will feel unusually comfortable here.
Wave 9 — MALGRIM, the Shadow Warden
The test: focus. Malgrim splits into shadow clones, and the fight becomes a shell game with damage on the line. Two habits win it: first, watch behavior, not bodies — clones imitate, but the true Warden fights with intent, and hits that land tell you which one you touched. Second, don't burn your screen-clearing special the moment the clones appear; spent wisely, one special both thins the shadows and confirms the real target in a single press. Malgrim is the fight where patience literally deals damage — flailing at every shadow is exactly the chaos he wants.
Wave 12 — THRYZON, the War Titan
The test: persistence. Thryzon is armored, and armor means phases: there are stretches where he shrugs off your best hits and stretches where he's cracked open. The fight is about surviving the former and cashing in the latter. When his armor is up, play defense-first — block his heavy swings, chip where safe, and protect your mushrooms. When the armor breaks, that's your window: everything you've saved — burst, special, aggression — belongs in those seconds. Treat it like mining: patient taps until the vein opens, then take everything.
Wave 15 — ZAR'KAEL, the Dragon Sovereign
The test: everything. The final boss shifts elements as the fight goes on, changing what's dangerous and what's safe from phase to phase — fire demands spacing and dodge discipline; other alignments change his rhythm and reach. There is no single strategy for Zar'kael; there's your accumulated education. Move like you learned from Kra'thor, time dodges like Vexara taught you, keep focus like Malgrim demanded, and spend your resources in windows like Thryzon trained. Arrive with mushrooms in reserve and your special ready for the phase that pressures you most. Beating him is less a trick and more a diploma.
If a boss keeps beating you
Remember the game's core promise: defeat pays. Every attempt banks coins; coins train your hero toward level 30 and forge better weapons; stronger heroes shrink boss fights. A wall you can't climb today is a wall you out-grow by Thursday. And if one hero's style isn't clicking against a particular boss, the answer might be a different defender entirely — see the hero guide for who counters what.
